Dr. J, a business consultant, author, and designer of games, hired Shmorky to illustrate art for her books, games, and PowerPoint presentations. PDFs of these related works will be included in the purchase of the associated NFTs.

An NFT, or Non-Fungible Token, is a digital asset which possesses a unique (non-fungible) identity. This concept has been applied to things from virtual items in videos games to digital art.
In the case of Shmorky: The Lost Collection, NFTs provide a form of digital provenance for individual pieces of art. In addition to being the recorded owner of a given piece of Shmorky artwork, the original commissioner has agreed to offer the copyrights of the corresponding pieces of artworks to their cryptographic owners.

Many of the reasons people have for buying traditional art also apply to the purchase of NFTs. For instance, people may buy physical art or NFTs to:
- Collect something from an artist they enjoy
- To show off
- To appreciate its artistic merit
- To speculate on its value
As a digital asset, NFTs also have the added benefits of:
- ease of storage and exchange

Unique to a Shmorky NFT, of course, is its connection to a renowned artist. In a sea of silly animal NFTs, there is only one Shmorky.
